Dear TLDSB parents/guardians and staff,
As we approach the March Break, I want to send my warmest wishes to all our students, their families, and staff. This pause in the year is a wonderful opportunity for students and staff to recharge, spend time with loved ones, and step away from the daily school routine. Whether you are traveling, enjoying time at home, or engaging in other activities, I hope you find time for relaxation and doing things that bring you joy.
I also want to extend my sincere gratitude to everyone who participated in our recent Student Census, which launched directly to Grade 7-12 students, and to parents/guardians of Kindergarten to Grade 6 students on March 3. To the students who shared their voice and the parents who assisted with the process – thank you.
The total number of surveys completed was 7,871, and those responses will help Trillium Lakelands District School Board (TLDSB) better understand the diverse needs of all the students and ensure that resources and programs are directed where they can make the greatest impact. Once the data from the student census is fully compiled, a general report (without any identifying information) will be shared with our families to help our communities better understand our population.
As we look forward to the final stretch of the school year following the break, I want to highlight the vital importance of regular student attendance. Every day in the classroom is an opportunity for a student to connect, grow, and make advancements toward their own personal success. However, we know that academic achievement isn’t something schools can achieve in isolation. Positive student attendance and engagement is a partnership between the school and home, so let’s continue to work together to send a powerful message to our students about the value of their education.
Thank you once again for your ongoing support, your trust, and dedication to your child(ren)’s learning journey. We look forward to having everyone back, refreshed, and ready to learn on Monday, March 23.
Sincerely,
Wes Hahn
