September 30th is Orange Shirt Day. This day is based on Phyllis Webstad’s story –orangeshirtday.org/phyllis-story. of entering a residential school in 1973 and having her orange shirt removed and replaced with a school uniform.
Orange Shirt Day is an event, created in 2013, designed to educate people and promote awareness in Canada about the Indian residential school system and the impact it has had on Indigenous communities for over a century.
